Recently, Qenos, an overseas subsidiary of Bluestar, has hosted the Oil & Gas Integrity Symposium, OGIS 2018, for the South Pacific region. This industry-wide event has been running for over 35 years.
Themed on "Corporate Governance and the Role of Inspection in Pressure Plant Management", the meeting gathered over 50 experts from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and other countries and regions, representing noted manufacturers in the petroleum, natural gas and chemicals industries, such as Origin Energy, Woodside Energy, Santos, Quadrant, ExxonMobil, Shell, ConocoPhillips, Inpex, Chevron, and Oil Search. Attendees shared their experiences and learnings in the areas of pressure equipment inspection, pipelines, coatings and composite repairs, corrosion under insulation, non-metallic piping, non-destructive testing techniques, as well as a number of case studies of failures in pressure vessels and pipelines.
Qenos CEO Stephen Bell opened the conference, emphasizing the high importance Qenos places on asset integrity, as well as how the Qenos SHEOS system integrates corporate governance within its plant asset management process. Qenos Altona Equipment Integrity Team Leader, Dietmar Jurgensen noted that many new acquaintances have been made amongst delegates who would not only exchange views at the meeting, but also stay in touch via online communication tools, and that the meeting was a great boost for the industry development.
