Recently, HWTT, by relying on its strong strength, has successfully won the 40-million-ton integrated seawater desalination for oil refining and chemical engineering. The project is the largest seawater desalination project of China’s petrochemical industry, with a daily output of over 100,000 tons.

The project will be set up at the green petrochemical base on the large and small Yushan islands, Daishan County, Zhoushan, Zhejiang, with a total output of 40 million tons of oil per year, 10.4 million tons of aromatic hydrocarbon per year and 2.8 million tons of ethylene per year, with a total investment of about RMB16 billion. It is a major project of China’s petrochemical industry in recent years and is implemented in two stages. Zhoushan is lack of fresh water resources, and the seawater desalination project as one of the important support projects, ensures water supply of the project. As the general contractor of the seawater desalination project, HWTT is responsible for design, equipment procurement and installation, providing all-around seawater desalination solutions. The output of a single machine is nearly 20,000 tons, ensuring water supply to the project.

The seawater of the East China Sea has a high content of suspended solids and the offshore sea is heavily polluted, the researchers of HWTT went to Zhoushan to make a survey on local water quality, and looked up HWTT’s engineering projects of and water quality analysis report on the East Sea over the past 30 years. Through repeated demonstrations and modifications, HWTT constantly optimized and improved the program and ultimately made a success. In the project, the horizontal filtering technology with a diameter of four meters was designed and used for the first time. It will be the demonstration application of large-scale horizontal filter technologies in seawater desalination, not only significantly reducing the investment costs, but also having advantages of low operating costs, low energy, low environmental impact and simple equipment operation, etc. The implementation of the project will provide seawater desalination of China’s petrochemical industry with high-efficient technical solutions and promote rapid development of China’s petrochemical and seawater desalination industries.
