Recently, the 800,000 t/y ethylene complete sets technology, jointly developed by Wuhan Petrochemical, SEI, Beijing Chemical Industry Research Institute and Tianhua Institute of Chemical Machinery & Automation Co., Ltd. (Tianhua Institute), has won the first prize of Sinopec Scientific and Technological Progress Awards of 2015.
The project was established in 2008, put into operation in August 2013 and passed the appraisal of Sinopec in September 2014.
The quench boiler used in it is developed and designed by Tianhua Institute, with low outlet temperature and long operational cycle, and produces much steam. Its combustion system has low NOx and little content of oxygen, and meets the requirement for heat flux density with flat and upright flames, greatly reducing the energy consumption of the ethylene units.
After nearly three years of stable operation, it has reached or surpassed the designed value in the performance of indicators, significantly improved the energy efficiency and reduced the energy consumption. It has reached the world advanced level in all related indicators, thus important for the comprehensive domestication of key equipment for large ethylene unit and improving the domestication rate of equipment.
