The Bluestar Work Safety Day campaign was launched on June 13. This year's theme is "Your Safety, My Responsibility", a continuation of last year's theme "I Saw and I Corrected", to root more deeply the awareness of work safety among all the staff. The campaign this year was extended to long-term contractors.
Bluestar has been attaching great importance to work safety since the beginning. But still unfortunately a safety accident occurred on June 13, 1994, which was a wake-up call for the company. In memory of the accident, Bluestar declared the day of June 13 its Work Safety Day from then on, in order to raise the safety awareness of its employees and build the corporate culture about work safety. On its way towards internationalization, Bluestar has introduced the advanced SHE system and concept from overseas companies such as Adisseo and Qenos, and gradually promoted them to domestic subsidiaries, remarkably improving its overall work safety performance. Bluestar's SHE system has a standard above the national standard and the company is now an industry leader in terms of work safety performance in China.
Promoted and organized by Bluestar, subsidiaries have launched various kinds of activities to raise the awareness of work safety in light of their actual conditions.
For example, Xinghuo Silicones solicited messages from staff families to remind workers of the importance of work safety. The messages were full of love, bringing the company, its employees and their families closer to each other.
On the same day, Xinghuo Silicones also put up posters on the Work Safety Day, displayed photos of unsafe practices on boards, and organized the internal review of SHEOP5.1 and SHEOP9.1 elements, a quiz game for front-line staff, and workers to watch the work safety video. These activities attracted a large number of participants, building up the culture about work safety and domestic safety.
To prevent safety accidents, inspire staff to learn safety related knowledge and master safety related skills, and raise their awareness of work safety and ability to protect themselves, Bluestar Dongda and Shenyang Paraffin-wax Chemical organized a quiz game about SHE, effectively raising their staff's awareness of work safety, teaching every staff the common knowledge about the prevention of safety risks and contingency response, and deeply rooting the idea of "Your Safety, My Responsibility" among them. Shenyang Paraffin-wax Chemical also investigated and eliminated potential hazards and conducted drills on the emergency response to accidents in its plants.
Nantong Xingchen and Shanna Rubber organized discussions on topics like "The Importance of Caring for Each Other", "Who's Responsible for Your Safety" and "What Does Safety Mean to You", with focus on the theme "Your Safety, My Responsibility" of this year's Work Safety Day, raising the safety awareness of their staff and contractors and improving the SHE safety management level.
