On 29 March, DN1800JX, an energy-efficient 300,000-ton-per-year urea synthesis tower, was loaded and shipped. The equipment designed and manufactured by Bluestar Machinery is now the largest of its kind in China.
According to an official, the equipment will be put into use in the 300,000-ton-per-year urea project of Jiuyuan Chemical Co., Ltd of Dazhou, Sichuan. This type of equipment used to be manufactured in sections in factories, then welded and assembled on site before use. The constraints of conditions have greatly increased production time and cost. As the largest chemical equipment producer in Western China, in recent years Bluestar Machinery has focused on the market, kept itself in line with market conditions, and explored developing large equipment and a full chain of services covering designing, producing and assembling. Boldly leading the way forward, it has successfully developed the large equipment such as the WHG gasifier and Ningmei gasifier, which can be assembled in the factory and shipped as a whole. With technical innovation, the urea synthesis tower is able to be built as a whole, which greatly sped up the production cycle, and saved more than 10,000 yuan in production cost.
The tower, weighing almost 350 tons, is nearly 36 meters tall and 1.8 meters in diameter. The tower applies a liquid phase countercurrent heat exchange process, which increases the carbon dioxide conversion rate to more than 72.4%. Compared with the aqueous solution total recycle process, which China’s urea production has mostly adopted, the technology employed by the tower can save 70.3 kilograms of standard coal in its overall energy consumption producing each ton of urea products, which means more than 21,000 tons are saved a year. The technology can be used to transform the existing urea units adopting the aqueous solution total recycle process or in new urea units. The urea tower requires less investment while is simple to operate, productive, energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Having reached an advanced level nationwide, the technology, consistent with relevant national policies and facing a broad market, will play a significant role in promoting energy efficiency, further upgrading the urea industry and pushing forward domestic chemical equipment production.
