A group of Asian Development Bank (ADB) experts that included the head of the East Asia Department’s energy division, Ashok Bhargava, visited the Dezhou Shihua Chemical Co, on Jan 31. Bhargava was joined by the financial advisor, Annika Seiler, and environment advisor, Zhu Chao, in visiting key energy-conservation and emissions-reduction sectors, including the ion-film caustic soda production site, turbo compression, lithium bromide cooling, and VCM conversion sites, and the central control room. Special attention was paid to the pilot plant test site for a VC project, featuring mercury-free catalytic reforming. Jiang Zhenhui, the Dezhou Shihua Chemical GM, explained the company’s general situation and development planning, as well as energy conservation and emissions reduction to the guests, who commented favorably on its scientific development and environmental friendliness, and pledged more favorable policies and financial support for its energy conservation and emissions reduction programs.
