On June 20 in Beijing, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) held a press conference of the frontrunner in 2011 for energy efficiency of key energy consumables in petroleum and chemical industry with 42 enterprises honored.
The first batch of frontrunners publicized nearly 10 products per system, synthesis ammonia, methanol, DAP, sulfuric acid, calcium carbide, caustic soda, PVC, sodium carbonate, yellow phosphorus and tires.
Among 42 enterprises, Henan Junhua Development Co Ltd was honored as a benchmark enterprise according to the indicator of integrated energy consumption per ton of ammonia. The company manufactures synthesis ammonia with blind coals as raw materials.
In September 2011, the State Council issued, “the 12th Five-Year Plan's Comprehensive Work Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction,” which encourages the study of the advancement level of energy efficiency for high-energy consumption and terminal energy-consuming products, and energy efficiency standards for frontrunners, along with an implementation deadline.
The frontrunner system confirms the benchmark for enterprises, which require all enterprises achieve this energy standard.
The system of energy efficiency frontrunners had originated from Japan. The enterprise with a low energy consumption product is regarded as the industry benchmark, leading other enterprises to perform at the same level.
