On June 11th, local time, strategic cooperation agreements were signed between China National Chemical Group (ChemChina) and Orkla ASA in Norway. The signing ceremony was attended by He Guoqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Wang Jiarui, minister of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Gan Yisheng, vice secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Gao Hucheng, Chinese vice commerce minister, Tang Guoqiang, Chinese ambassador to Norway, Giske, minister of the Trade and Industry Department in Norway, and Svein Ole Saether, the Norwegian Ambassador to China.
Before this, both parties had discussed the strategic cooperation. According to the agreements, the two parties will work closely in such fields as energy conservation and emissions reduction, markets-sharing, scientific research and development, renewable energy, supplies of raw materials, and corporate efficiency management systems.
China National Chemical Corporation is the largest chemical enterprise in China, managed by the SASAC (State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission), and ranks 19th place in the world for chemical production. Orkla Group is the third-largest corporation in Norway, and it possesses diversified industries and finance. By December 31, 2009, its market capitalization reached 7.3 billion USD, and its operation revenue amounted to 11.3 billion USD.
