Ren Jianxin attends symposium "Europe/China: Facing our common challenges"

Symposium "Europe/China: Facing our common challenges," organized by the French Directorate-general of the Treasury, opened on June 16 at the Ministry for the Economy, Industry and Employment Conference center in Paris.

Nearly 500 people attended the symposium, including officials from EU, France, China and IMF, leaders from European and Chinese companies and financial organizations, economists from Central Europe, and reporters from the news media.

The symposium was also attended by former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin; French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde; French Minister of State for Foreign Trade Anne-Marie Idrac; Jean-Pascal Tricoire, president and CEO of Schneider Electric and president of Medef France-China Committee; Kong Quan, Chinese ambassador to France; Zhu Min, special advisor of the IMF managing director; Ma She, counselor of Chinese embassy in Paris; and Gao Jian, vice governor of China Development Bank.

Ren Jianxin, president and CPC secretary of China National Chemical Corp (ChemChina), was invited to the symposium.

The symposium’s theme focused on three topics: Europe & China: strategic issues; trade and industrial partnerships; global governance and the international monetary system. Experts made speeches at the conference: "China: which role in crisis exit?" "Europe/China: toward a special relationship in globalization," etc.

Mr. Ren delivered a speech introducing the progress of ChemChina’s strategic investment and its efforts to realize mutual benefits in international cooperation. He also put forth suggestions on cooperation between Chinese and French companies as well as how to develop in a sustainable way. When it came to the great success of ChemChina’s investment in France, participants were deeply impressed. ChemChina is the largest Chinese investor in France. Mr. Ren was interviewed by Phoenix TV and other news media after the symposium.

Mr. Ren was also invited to a luncheon hosted by French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde.

Lu Xiaobao, acting CEO of China National BlueStar (Group) Co Ltd, Gérard Deman, CEO of Adisseo, and Olivier de Clermont Tonnerre, CEO of Bluestar Silicones Group, were also present at the symposium.
