China National Tire & Rubber Corporation and Zigong municipal government recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Zigong New Material Industry Base. According to the agreement, the construction of the base, by China Rubber Group Carbon Black Research & Design Institute (CCBI), will officially start at the end of this year.
According to the construction plan, CCBI will re-plan its industrial layout and build a strategic base of emerging material industry and engineering technology industry focusing on “high-performance special resins and composite materials”, “new carbon nano-materials” and “energy saving and environment friendly engineering technology”.
In the field of high-performance special resins and their composite materials, CCBI will mainly develop high temperature resistant and flame retardant resins as well as high temperature resistant resins, which are produced only in a few countries in the world at present. CCBI will also develop their fiber reinforced composite materials. In the field of new carbon nano-materials, CCBI will mainly develop fullerene (863 Program) and carbon nano tubes. It will take two steps to develop a new structure for the “energy saving and environment friendly engineering technology” industry. The first step involves building two high-tech fields of high-performance special resins, their composite materials and new carbon nano-materials. After the new material industry base is completed, CCBI will switch from the field of traditional carbon black materials to the fields of high-performance resins, new-type carbon nano materials and other high-tech or new materials.
