On November 29, an international press conference for releasing the 2017 Pirelli Calendar was held in Paris. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Pirelli, Peter Lindbergh, one of the world’s top photographers, and calendar stars including Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Helen Miller, interacted with more than 350 journalists from world famous media in fashion, sports and auto under the theme of “Fashion and Personal Development”.

The 2017 Pirelli Calendar is a work shot by Peter Lindbergh who photographed 15 well-known actresses including Zhang Ziyi wearing minimal makeup in Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Paris and New York. Peter Lindbergh, one of the world’s most accomplished photographers in fashion photography and the fashion world, photographed the Pirelli calendar of 1996 and 2002. He, a pioneer of the photography world, introduced a form of new realism by redefining the standards of beauty.
The Pirelli Calendar is a famous one published by the Pirelli Company, enjoying global popularity. It has become an annual publication that dates back to 1964, commissioning famous photographers to take photos of popular models and celebrities invited by it, with limited global availability. The Calendar, a fashion label and a record of modern women, is used to shoot the evolution of female images keeping up with the times. The 2016 Pirelli Calendar invited a Chinese famous actress (Yao Chen) for the first time to be shot as a cover model.
The 2017 calendar represents the 44th edition of Pirelli calendars with 20,000 printed annually. With a great influence at art festivals and in the fashion world, the Pirelli calendar is very collectible and has become a cultural phenomenon in Europe and North America. In recent years, the calendar has shifted its focus from visual impact to the theme of developing yourself and setting yourself free inside, which is consistent with the brand development strategy of Pirelli’s deproductization.
On August 23, 2016, a new website (www.pirellicalendar.com) for the Pirelli Calendar went online, showcasing the history and splendor of the calendar. As a new digital platform, the website impresses its audiences with the 50-odd history of the Pirelli Calendar by utilizing videos, images, and a variety of materials collected from exclusive interviews, leading them to relevant activities of the next calendar.
