REC Solar, an overseas affiliated company of Bluestar, recently announced that its solar panel would be used in the newly completed solar facilities in Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah to provide electricity.
Rio Tinto acts as the home of Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Real Monarchs SLC of US Football League (USFL). Currently, it has a solar system of 2.02 MW distributed among certain parking lots and roofs.
The solar power system in Rio Tinto was designed and built by Auric Solar in Utah. Comprising 6,414 REC Peak Energy 315-Watt solar panels, it was the largest solar battery array in MLS stadiums, ranking fourth among all major sport facilities in the US. Its energy offset rate (as high as 73%) was the highest among all professional sport facilities in the US.
Thanks to advanced design and technology, the Peak Energy solar panel produced by REC solar can generate more electric power with per unit area and is more adaptable to customized cable, and thus suits large commercial and public utility projects. With edging expertise and rich experience, REC Solar designs sturdy and durable solar panel that can endure large mechanical load.
Zony Chen, REC Solar Vice President on global market and US business development, said that installing solar power facilities in Rio Tinto in another case of promoting solar power in major stadiums of the US to reduce energy consumption and costs and raise the ability of sustainable development. By engaging in such important projects, REC Solar has proved that its product quality and reliability rank top in the industry.
Trent Vansice, director of Auric Solar, said that Rio Tinto solar system under construction and the REC Solar panel could not only supply durable electricity, but also secure the cutting-edge status of Real Salt Lake among the professional sport sector in terms of environmental protection and energy conservation.
