Peng Zhishen, a deputy chief engineer at Yiyang Rubber & Plastics Machinery, received the Economically Outstanding Women award recently, as part of a 2012 China Economic Person of the Year selection, arranged by the All-China Women's Federation, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and China Women’s News.
Peng graduated from the Qingdao University of Science and Technology’s high polymer material processing machinery department and led a team in developing an advanced internal mixer, after studying various rubber machinery designs from around the world. This remarkable contribution got her many awards, such as the National Pace-setter for Women and the May lst Labor Medal. One part that she developed helped fill a gap in the field in China and she has many intellectual property rights for patents. Her servo technology is at the international level and is a big step forward in China's internal mixer technology, when she was in charge of R&D work on a high-quality mesh GK250E internal mixer, with its bold innovations in new materials and structures. The product is now in wide use by Chinese tire makers and is sold abroad, which helped with the development of the domestic green tire business. In 2011 and 2012, Peng helped Yiyang develop many new products, such as an AC variable frequency GK90E internal mixer, and GN300 and GK320E internal mixers, and helped modernize 10 previous models, including a tandem internal mixer. This innovative development has greatly cut equipment costs and land use and brought power consumption down by 70 percent, which has helped the company branch out.
The selection program has been going on for 10 years, with decisions made on contributions, influence and social responsibility. It has two other awards for economic women of the year and women with great public welfare contributions. These demonstrate the spirit of the women and bring a great deal of respect.
