The general manager, Ren Jianxin, had a close discussion with some employees who took part in the deputy safety director training session, on Sept 24. Ren said the company needs to do everything it can in its the safe production work during the structural adjustment period.
Ren said that, all work should the based on safety and that all those responsible for safety at grassroots enterprises carry a great responsibility and always need to be aware of the “Safety first” concept and apply it at all times to improve safety standards on the production line. And, much more attention needs to be paid to safe management teams, and SHE system, and a safety culture.
The company is now in a key phase of structural adjustment and, for chemical companies, this is extremely important because of their excess production capacity, the Euro crisis, and the economic downturn. The government also came up with policies to weed out those enterprises that do not meet safety and environmental protection standards. And, ChemChina, as the major enterprise, needs to take the lead and perform well in its safety and environmental protection endeavors.
Ren went on to point out that, filling the post of safety director at grassroots enterprises is not only a State Council State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and State Administration of Work Safety requirement, but also a way for the company to guarantee safety standards. It needs to constantly promote QENOS SHE system development, study the concepts, and manage safety better through automation, information and modernization.
Developing a safety culture is the basis of work safety and all staff members need to pay much more attention to it. And, the most accessible, effective way to do this is to begin with family safety and nurture the idea and practice there.
Ren concluded by taking about his expectations for all trainees and saying that he hopes they cherish this study opportunity and stick to the discipline and develop good study habits to develop their own philosophy, and this will allow them perform their safety management duties at a higher level and make an even greater contributions to company safety and scientific development.
